The Panasonic took the top spot in our Labs this month by a clear margin, but it was a somewhat stealthy contender. Its plain looks do a good job of hiding a great set of features and the ability to record extremely high-quality footage, proving the ad...

Many of Panasonics HD camcorders have only an SDHC memory card slot for storage, but the HDC-HS9 adds a hard disk into the mix. Its 60GB capacity will store around eight hours of HD video even at the highest quality setting of 17Mbit/s. Add a 16GB...

This attractive camcorder can record 1920x1080-pixel high-definition video onto SD and SDHC memory cards, or its built-in 60GB hard disc. When the highest-quality HA mode is selected, the disc drive can store over seven hours of 1920x1080-pixel high-de...

The HDC-HS9 is arguably the best high-definition camcorder in its price range; with the possible exception of its stablemate; the HDC-SD9. For our money, the HDC-HS9 comes out slightly on top due to its 60GB hard drive. Highly recommended.

Hi-def camcorders are shrinking so rapidly, they make singer Amy Winehouse seem positively plump. A great example is the new Panasonic HDC-HS9, a combination 60GB hard disk drive, SDHC AVCHD home video maker that weighs 15.8 ounces including the batter...

Although all of these camcorders use the AVCHD format to record 1080I video, Panasonic’s quality doesn’t compare to the other models. It’s definitely not worth the money ($999 list, $750 real world) and you should seriously look el...

Panasonic's dinky HDC-SD9 may have grabbed the lion's share of our attention, but it was released in tandem with another new model. The HDC-HS9 doesn't have quite the same miniaturised appeal, being about 10mm wider and noticeably heavier. However, it doe...

We forgave the HDC-SD9's lack of hobbyist features, because its tiny size and reasonable price will make you much more likely to keep it with you at all times. Although the HDC-HS9 has almost the same features, plus a 60GB hard disk, it's more normally pr...
